Mrs Gerard Tharp was born Dora Maryon Wesley Hall (known as Dodo when a child) in 1891 in Toorak, Victoria, Australia. She married Lt Col. Hon George Henry Morris (the youngest son of Lord Killanin, a former Lord Chief Justice of Ireland) in 1913 at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Westminster, England. She gave birth to her first son, Michael (3rd Baron Killanin, who died in 1999), in 1914. Sadly, her husband was killed in action in September 1914. In 1918, Dora married Lt Col. Gerard Prideaux Tharp (part owner of Chippenham Hall, Ely, Cambridgeshire - inheriting the whole estate in 1929). They had their first child, John David Annesley Tharp, in 1922. Their second, Helena Mary Philippa Tharp, was born c. 1930. Unfortunately, Gerard died in 1934 and John died in 1943. Dora died in Chippenham in 1948, aged 56.
